Delta State Deputy Governor, Mr. Monday Onyeme, has urged members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to remain steadfast and committed to reclaiming power in 2027. His call came during a courtesy visit by non-working party members of the State Executive Committee in Asaba, the state capital, on Saturday.
Onyeme highlighted the ongoing challenges Nigerians are facing, particularly with the rising fuel prices, which have worsened the standard of living. He emphasized that these difficulties are a result of the current administration under the All Progressives Congress (APC).
“Nigerians have learned a tough lesson by voting for the APC,” Onyeme said. “Under the PDP, the fuel pump price was N87 per litre, and Nigerians enjoyed true democratic freedom. The APC’s ‘Change’ mantra has left people disillusioned.”
He called on PDP members to remain resilient and loyal, whether in or out of office, as their work is crucial to the party’s future success. “The APC has dictated the current state of affairs, but with hard work, we can bring the PDP back to power,” he urged.
Onyeme reflected on the days when Nigerians had the freedom to voice concerns and protest, contrasting it with the present, where such freedoms are diminished. “The fuel price situation is still unfolding, but there is hope. If we unite around the PDP, we can redeem our nation,” he added.
He expressed gratitude to the party’s executives for their visit and congratulated those who had recently secured election victories. Earlier, the group’s Chairman, Mr. Morgan Ogapha, reiterated their commitment to serving both the party and the people of Delta State.
