Tragedy struck in Minna, the capital of Niger State, as suspected hoodlums mercilessly took the life of Zacchaeus Salawadeen, a 33-year-old freelance photographer, in the presence of his three children. The assailants, armed with deadly intent, tracked Salawadeen to his residence in the Tundun Fulani Area, where they ruthlessly stabbed him multiple times until he succumbed to his injuries.

The horrifying incident unfolded on a fateful Tuesday night, just as Salawadeen had returned home after completing his day’s work, eager to spend time with his beloved family. Despite being rushed to the IBB Specialist Hospital, his life could not be saved, leaving behind grieving loved ones and a shattered community.

Eyewitnesses recounted the harrowing ordeal, detailing how the hoodlums brazenly barged into Salawadeen’s home, terrorizing the occupants before zeroing in on their target. Locked in a desperate struggle for survival, Salawadeen fell victim to the senseless violence, while the perpetrators callously plundered valuables, including his laptop and camera.

Wasiu Abiodun, the spokesperson for the Niger State Police, confirmed the grim episode, assuring the public that investigations were underway. The authorities, he affirmed, were diligently probing the circumstances surrounding the heinous crime, aiming to bring the perpetrators to swift justice.

“In the early hours of 27/2/2024, tragedy befell the community of Tudun-Fulani as Zacchaeus Salawadeen, a cherished member of our society, fell prey to a vicious attack within his own home. As we mourn this grievous loss, let us unite in our resolve to stand against such barbarity and work together to ensure the safety and security of all our citizens,” Abiodun stated, urging anyone with relevant information to come forward and assist in the investigation.
